William Hill US, one of the country’s leading sportsbook operators, officially opened its first location in Washington D.C., and the first within a U.S. sports arena. The sportsbook celebrated the opening of the DC location with a ceremony in which first bets were placed by season ticket holders from the Washington Wizards, Mystics and Capitals.
The William Hill sportsbook is temporarily located inside the Capital One Arena Box Office. Monumental Sports and Entertainment is the parent company of the Washington Capitals, Mystics, Wizards, and Capital One Arena. The opening of the sportsbook coincides with professional sports returning, following the shutdown all leagues imposed due to government COVID-19 mandates.
At the head of Monumental Sports and Entertainment is the founder, chairman, principal partner and chief executive officer, Ted Leonsis.

William Hill Celebrates with Inaugural Season Ticket Holders
Inaugural season ticket holders (those who bought season tickets the first season the team played) were the first to place bets during a small ceremony.
Inaugural season ticket holders have held season tickets since the 1973/74 season of the Washington Wizards, from the 1973/74 season of the Washington Capitals and the 1998 season for the Mystics.
The inaugural season ticket holders who were honored are Mr. David Dwornik (Wizards), Mr. David Feldman (Capitals), and Ms. Angela Tilghman (Mystics). Each one placed a bet on their team, using their lucky numbers.

The Temporary Sportsbook Location is Worth a Visit
The temporary William Hill sportsbook is located inside the arena’s box office. Bettors will find ten kiosks, seven ticket windows, and a smooth, easy way of placing bets. The sportsbook will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m, seven days a week.
Construction of the permanent sportsbook is underway, and, pending regulatory approval, it’s expected to welcome bettors in the fall of 2020. The permanent sportsbook will feature a full-service bar and restaurant, complemented by William Hill’s premium sports betting experience.
