For the 4th time in a row, Golden Nugget has recently been crowned operator of the Year at the EGR North America Awards. In a virtual ceremony that saw 23 online gambling operators awarded, Golden Nugget Online Gaming also bagged the mobile operator award owing to its superior casino UX and easy to use interface.
The EGR North America Virtual East Coast awards had 5 additional categories this year. The awards, which are held to reward top operators and service providers in the gaming industry were judged by industry peers.
Thomas Winter, president, Golden Nugget Online Gaming, had this to say about receiving the coveted award:
“We are honored and humbled to be recognized by our esteemed industry peers as the Operator of the Year in North America for the fourth consecutive year. Their vote confirms the choice of New Jersey players, who have chosen Golden Nugget as their favorite destination for online and mobile casino. We will now try and apply the same focus on superior product, flawless execution, and world-class player experience as we plan our expansion into the other states and launch our new sports betting offer.”
The Garden State’s online casino industry has been growing by leaps and bounds in the last couple of years. Despite relatively being in its embryonic stage, New Jersey continues to make waves, breaking record after record with its impressive results. While the success of the overall market and its leading casinos have been impressive, Golden Nugget’s recent performance has been especially noteworthy.
What we cover
Golden Nuggets keeps winning
In a move scheduled to take Golden Nugget’s online gaming business public as we’ve discussed here, Golden Nugget Online Gaming is now better positioned to capitalize on the massive online gaming opportunities that lay in wait in the country.
The Golden Nugget has already established itself as a leader. As it plans to expand into new markets such as Pennsylvania and Michigan early next year, its standing in the industry will only strengthen further. The merger with Lancadia II as covered here has already proven to be beneficial for the brand.
Despite a brutal pandemic and devastating blows in the industry, Golden Nugget was the only operator to report Q2 profit as we’ve discussed in lengthy detail here. This success is credited to its vibrant online gambling presence, which continues to prosper even today. During the first 9 months of the year, Golden Nugget’s NJ gaming revenue grew by 72% year over year and generated more than $2 billion in bets, cementing its place as the top casino brand in the Jersey betting market.
What Golden Nugget continues to prove is that its online operations are capable of generating millions in revenue and grow at an overwhelming rate without necessarily negatively affecting its own brick and mortar operations. When it first launched operations in 2013, skeptics thought that maintaining such an operation would be hard but Golden Nugget has continuously proven the cynics wrong.
The state’s handle is growing at an accelerated pace year over year. And the growth of sports betting only helps to keep propelling Golden Nugget to newer territories. Just a couple of years ago, Golden Nugget was barely a blip on the radar in an industry that was previously dominated by the likes of Caesars and Borgata.
Few could have predicted the remarkable growth that the brand has experienced today. As the iGaming market in the Garden State has continued to grow, the Golden Nugget has gradually made its way to the top of the revenue log and today enjoys an outstanding market share. What has been so impressive about Golden Nugget since the industry was legalized in 2013 is just how fast it has been able to outmaneuver its competitors.
To this day, it stands as the only casino to report positive yearly growth trends since 2013. Although Golden Nugget’s entry into the iGaming market was full of challenges and technical difficulties, it has managed to stand out. It still holds several revenue records while it sets new ones with every quarter.
Indeed, Golden Nugget was the first operator in New Jersey to generate an 8 figure revenue for a single month and it will take a couple of more years before any operator can reach this status. Golden Nugget’s monopoly has been remarkable, to say the least in what is one of the most competitive sports betting markets in the country.
And with its numbers firmly on the rise, chances are high that Golden Nugget will keep dominating the online gambling scene in the Garden State for years to come. As one of the most time-honored brands of all time in the industry, there is a lot that other operators can learn from Golden Nugget.
Final Thoughts
Golden Nugget has a lot to be thankful for this year, despite the obvious setbacks that have been postured by the pandemic. Clinching the top award at the EGR North America East Coast award wasn’t a small feat especially considering just how crowded the New Jersey betting market is these days.
Thanks to its continued profitable growth each quarter, Golden Nugget has proven its resilience. So much so that Golden Nugget is now skated to generate more than $100 million of Gross Gaming Revenue in the Garden State just this year alone. As it focuses its efforts on launching its mobile sports betting platform in Michigan possibly before the year comes to a close, Golden Nugget’s light will keep shining brightly.
