Poker players in New Jersey will be spoilt for choice this March when it comes to online poker tournaments. After the disruption and uncertainty that the pandemic has caused in the last 2 years, poker players all over the country have had a frustrating experience. But things have been looking up and the New Jersey poker scene, in particular, seems to be recovering and thriving.
To ensure that poker players in the Garden State remain happy and satisfied, BetMGM will be showcasing yet another tournament dubbed the March Mania Festival. The festival is scheduled to take place from March 20th to the 27th. Punters in the Garden State will be able to take part in 19 events, all of which will be hosted on the BetMGM and Partypoker network.
Poker players in New Jersey will battle it out for the guaranteed prize pools valued at $497,000. The festival will cater to a wide range of budgets with buy-ins ranging from $55 to $1,060. Apart from the prizes, participants will also get to meet and interact with popular poker personalities. Renowned poker greats such as Andrew Neeme, Darren Elias, and Matt Berkey will be in attendance. Darren Elias, who hails from New Jersey, will host the festival in New Jersey.
Although BetMGM has certainly worked to make a name for itself in the online poker tournament scene, this will be the first time that the brand has produced an online poker event in more than one state and with several hosts. Poker players located within the borders of New Jersey will be able to access the series via 3 different poker skins. The 3 skins will include PartyPoker, BetMGM Poker, as well as Borgata Poker.
The Festival will conclude with the Main Event for online poker players in New Jersey that will begin on March 27th. The Main Event features a buy-in estimated at $1,060 for a chance at the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. The highlight of the Main Event will be the No-limit hold ’em, which is the primary tournament in the series.
There will, however, be several Omaha events for punters to choose from during the highly anticipated online poker tournament. Apart from the No-Limit Hold ‘em main tournament, punters will have several other events to look forward to including Event 1 to be held on March 20th. Event 1 will be a $535 NLH Eight-Max Warmup with a guarantee of $50,000.
Event 2 with $35,000 guaranteed will feature a $109 Progressive Knockout event to be held on the same day as Event 1. Another event that has promised a great guarantee is the $215 Pot-Limit Omaha that boasts $15,000 guaranteed on March 6th. The $535 NLH Eight-Max to be held on March 27th also has one of the largest guaranteed prize pools of $75,000.
As mentioned earlier, Darren Elias will host the tournament in New Jersey. At present, Elias holds the record for the most World Poker Tour Wins, cash prizes, as well as tables. BetMGM announced Elias as its brand ambassador for the network’s market in the US.
Elias will host an event live on March 24th at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. On the next day, he is also expected to make an appearance at the Spring Rebound Poker tournament which is being thrown in conjunction with Borgata Poker and BetMGM. Apart from hosting, the brand ambassador and poker legend will also live stream some online play for the first time.
The Spring Rebound tournament will feature a $1000 buy-in and a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000. As the tournaments are going on, BetMGM will also continue to host its regular nightly $10,000 guaranteed tournament for its punters in New Jersey. The $10,000 guaranteed tournament will have a $109 buy-in and will also be availed to punters in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
As the largest market for BetMGM and PartyPoker, the Garden State will include $472,000 in guarantees across 19 events.
What we cover
BetMGM Poker March Mania Series also to be hosted for Michigan and Pennsylvania players
It’s not just poker players in New Jersey that will enjoy the online tournament. BetMGM is also guaranteeing $397,000 for poker players in Pennsylvania too. The series will be almost identical to New Jersey, with similar buy-ins and guarantees. In Pennsylvania, Matt Berkley will serve as the host.
He will also play through live stream for the entire week that the tournament is running. Fans of his, as well as BetMGM customers in Pennsylvania, can expect some online cash games, as well as handicap college basketball during the live streams.
Berkley has grown his career from humble beginnings and is now one of the most celebrated poker pros in the country with more than $4.3-million-won live poker tournaments. Today, he is ranked 7th in the all-time most successful platers in Pennsylvania.
Since the poker market in Michigan is still in its infant stages, the guaranteed prize pool for the tournaments in the state will be slightly lower compared to New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Michigan poker players will enjoy a guaranteed pool of $397. In Michigan, Andrew Neeme will serve as the host of a meet-up, which will be held in MGM Grand Detroit’s poker room on March 23rd. A day later, Neeme will also host a watching meetup for college basketball at the Sports Lounge. The poker pro will also host several live streams on Youtube.
