New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will be the keynote speaker at Betting on Sports America 2020. The Governor will share his insights on New Jersey’s fast-growing gaming industry.
Governor Murphy played a key role in the push to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, allowing states across the country to establish legal betting markets. The Governor is just one of the stars of the gambling world for this year’s conference. The roster features 200 of the biggest names from the gaming industry.
Murphy will speak at the Meadowlands Exposition Center on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. This year is Governor Murphy’s return to the world’s biggest dedicated sports betting trade show. Governor Murphy also spoke at the inaugural Betting on Sports America in 2019.

Governor Phil Murphy is Key to the Garden State’s Growth
During last year’s event, Murphy highlighted how the Garden State had taken full advantage of the Supreme Court decision that he and the previous governor, Chris Christie, had successfully pushed for. Since then, New Jersey has experienced rapid growth, quickly falling into second place behind Nevada as the largest regulated sports wager market in the country.
The Governor also used last year’s speech to highlight the benefits this had brought to the state. This includes a huge reduction in illegal gambling, the growth of the state’s high-tech economy, job creation, and the influx of new patrons for local racetracks and casinos.
Ahead of his 2020 keynote speech, Murphy remarked, “I’m very happy that SBC has again chosen New Jersey to host this year’s Betting on Sports America conference. This is only further evidence of New Jersey’s importance to the regulated sports betting market in the United States.”
