BetAmerica is Becoming TwinSpires. What Does This Mean for NJ Players?

Long before sportsbooks and mobile betting infiltrated the New Jersey betting scene, the only thing that NJ players could legally bet on was horse racing. Over the many decades that people have been betting on horse races, the industry has matured to become more sophisticated than ever. Now, NJ players have more variety than ever thanks to mobile apps that allow one to wager on the go.

As horse racing has continued to undergo its transformation, operators such as TwinSpires and BetAmerica have been at the helm of it all.  Now, the NJ horse betting industry is set to undergo another change as BetAmerica rebrands to TwinSpires. NJ players can now bet on a wide array of markets at the TwinSpires online sportsbook and casino.

TwinSpires is a pari-mutuel wagering business that has been in business for some time now. Twinspires was established in 2007 by Churchill Downs Incorporated and has grown to become an industry leader in Advance-Deposit Wagering. TwinSpires offer punters online as well as mobile wagering options on local and international horse races.

BetAmerica has been struggling to attract new customers, which has made it difficult to compete with some of the more established brands. With this re-brand, TwinSpires will now easily integrate its horse racing betting platform in conjunction with its sports wagering and iGaming business. This will allow the brand to provide punters in NJ an exclusive online and mobile wagering experience that cannot be beaten by any other provider.

The transition from BetAmerica to TwinSpires will be anything but easy

Current BetAmerica customers will not be negatively impacted by this re-brand. They will continue to experience the same product, bonuses, and customer service that they have become accustomed to. Seamless integration between the two platforms will not take place until later on in the year.

BetAmerica has a range of retail and online sportsbooks all over the country that will gradually transition to the TwinSpires brand. These retail and online sportsbooks are available to punters in New Jersey, Mississippi, Colorado, Pennsylvania, as well as Indiana. TwinSpires is looking to expand into the Tennessee betting market as it recently received approval from the Tennessee Lottery’s Sports Wagering Committee.

The transition from BetAmerica to TwinSpires will commence in Michigan first. However, the remaining cities should expect to be fully integrated by the end of the first half of the year. According to experts, this transition will allow the brand to offer its customers on both platforms a more holistic and comprehensive gambling experience.

Even though TwinSpires has been around for quite some time now, its shift to the online and sports betting market will be an uphill climb. Already, the New Jersey sports betting market is saturated with popular names the likes of William Hill, DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM. Even though the competition is tough, TwinSpires is bringing a lot to the table.

For instance, its technology partners GAN and KAMBI will help the operator expand its reach in the NJ market fast. Additionally, TwinSpires already has a loyal horseracing audience and following. The only thing that it has to do is convince them to show some interest in its online and sportsbooks verticals, which shouldn’t be too hard to achieve with some creative marketing.

TwinSpires must also strive to provide its customers with the best wagering experience possible, which will require a lot of commitment and dedication. This is the only way that the new brand will be able to stand out in the highly saturated NJ betting market.

Already, TwinSpires has forged several partnerships that will allow it to gain some traction in the NJ betting market. For instance, it recently entered into a partnership with football Hall of Famer Brett Favre, who will start in TwinSpires marketing campaign. Favre will help TwinSpires attract more sports betting punters as the brand continues its plans for expansion all over the country as more and more states prepare to legalize sports betting.

The transition has been a long time coming

As the home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs has built a strong reputation over the years that will allow its transition to online and sports betting to be a little more stress-free than it has been for other new entrants. Churchill Downs announced its plans to enter into sports wagering and real money gambling or iGaming when the sports betting industry received approval from the Supreme Court.

To prepare for its transition, Churchill Downs announced a strategic partnership with SBTech in 2018. This partnership agreement would see SBTech offer Churchill Downs its integrated technology platform for its iGaming and sports wagering operations.

To aid the transition from BetAmerica to TwinSpires, Churchill Downs will rely on SBTech’s integrated tech platform for its websites, mobile apps, and office systems that will be used to manage iGaming and sports wagering where it will be available. Without this strategic partnership with SBTech, Churchill Downs would have found it difficult to transition to New Jersey and any other state that offers legal sports betting.
