In partnership with Darren Rovell and The Action Network, 888 Holdings Plc announced it will host a poker tournament for players in New Jersey. The tournament consists of four weekly games played against Darren Rovell, Senior Executive Producer at The Action Network, on the 888Poker platform. The $10,000 grand prize finale was awarded on July 5. Rovell is also a sports journalist, covering every angle of the sports betting world.
Best of all, Rovell will live-stream the weekly tournaments and the Grand Finale tournament to his very popular social media channels. On Twitter alone, Rovell has more than 2 million followers.

COVID-19 Puts Live Poker Tournaments on Hold
The COVID-19 pandemic severely impacted the gambling world with the closure of land-based casinos, the suspension of global travel, and canceled sports events. Yet, social distancing has not stopped online poker at 888Poker. In fact, the gaming industry has seen a surge of players gambling online.
Despite Governor Murphy’s shutdown of New Jersey’s casinos, April saw a year-over-year uptick of 114% in online poker and table games in the state. Moreover, 888Poker experienced a 60% increase in new users between March and April.
888Poker Tournament Breaks the Boundaries
The 888Poker tournament was live-streamed on June 14, June 21 and June 28 at 8 p.m. ET. New users in the Garden State who signed up and deposited at least $10 with the ACTION888 promo code received seven tickets to play in the 888Poker daily all-in free-roll tournaments. New users also received a ticket to the July 5, $10,000 grand prize finale.
Winners of the 7:30 pm ET daily tournaments earned a chance to play in one of the three $1,000 Sunday games. Just for signing up, all new users also received a $20 registration bonus.
