As one of the fastest-growing gaming operators in the country, PointsBet is always looking to fill its team with top-notch executives that will allow the operator to keep pursuing its expansion plans. Just recently, PointsBet appointed Rachelle Carpenter to take on the role of chief people officer.
Carpenter joined the PointsBet team late last month in June after working with DISH Network for 10 years. During her time at DISH, which is one of the largest fortune 200 companies in the country, she maintained an array of roles that include strategy creation as well as talent acquisition and retention. Her last role at DISH was VP of People Operations where she oversaw more than 14,000 employees situated all over the country.
In her leadership role at PointsBet, Rachelle will be tasked with developing and driving all human resources components for the fast-growing organization. Rachelle will also be responsible for coming up with diversity and inclusion programs that are in line with PointsBet’s organizational culture. Rachelle is perfectly suited to her new role having lived in Colorado for most of her life.
It is her unique knowledge of PointsBet hometown Denver coupled with her years of experience that will allow her to perform well in her new role. Rachelle’s first day at PointsBet was July 19th, 2021. PointsBet has worked hard to build a strong core team into an operation that now boasts more than 200 staff at its Denver headquarters.
To add to the team, PointsBet also most recently appointed Aaron O’Sullivan as its new Vice President of Online Casino Revenue. O’Sullivan will oversee the online casino revenue for its North American operations. He brings with him more than 15 years of global iGaming experience, which will benefit PointsBet greatly as it proceeds with its expansion plans.
As VP of online casino revenue for North America, O’Sullivan will be responsible for shaping the online operation. His work will be to primarily ensure that PointsBet proprietary technology framework adapts and meets the demands of the consumer in the burgeoning and highly competitive gambling market in North America.
As mentioned earlier, O’Sullivan has a long history of working with large international brands and startups, which means that he will fit right into team PointsBet. O’Sullivan has worked in various capacities in directorial and senior positions in various gaming companies including 32Red, Boylesports, Betfred, bet365, as well as Rank Plc. Before his new role at PointsBet, O’Sullivan worked as the Head of Games at bet365.
What we cover
PointsBet also making new appointments across the pond in Canada.
It’s not just the American team that’s growing at PointsBet; the Canada team is also expanding. Most recently, PointsBet appointed Scott Vanderwel as the very first chief executive of its Canadian business. Vanderwell has been tasked with the duty of overseeing PointsBet operations in the country.
Vanderwell will report to the global CEO Sam Swanell. Before joining PointsBet, Vanderwel worked as senior VP for Rogers Communications. He also worked at Monitor Group prior and he also leads the Ivey Alumni Network Board. PointsBet’s corporate profile also expanded in Canada thanks to the appointment of lawyer Chantal Cipriano.
Cipriano is an experienced lawyer in the gaming and sports betting industry. In her new role, she will serve as PointsBet’s VP of legal in Canada. She joins Nic Sulsky who was most recently appointed as the Chief Commercial Officer as the company strives to cement its Canadian operations in what is about to be the biggest market in North America.
Cipriano has been a long-time resident of Toronto and she joins the team after her previous experience working in Mazooma where she served as the senior director of legal and compliance. During her time at Mazooma, Cipriano helped to spearhead the fintech company in providing real-time payment processing for licensed iGaming and sports betting companies situated in the popular US gambling market.
The PointsBet team in Canada has a tough job ahead of it as Canada prepares to welcome single-event sports wagering. After months of deliberation, the single event sports bill known as Bill C-218 has finally received the Royal Assent it requires to become law.
Points Bet has a lot to look forward to
As mentioned above, with the legalization of single-event sports betting in Canada, PointsBet is well-positioned to emerge as the leader in the new market. PointsBet has already been taking single event wagers from its American market. As such, it is uniquely positioned to emerge as market leader thanks to its extensive experience in mature gambling markets such as New Jersey.
With its innovative and time-tested business model coupled with its talented leadership, PointsBet has everything it needs to capture and dominate this unique opportunity in Canada. PointsBet has successful gaming operations in North America, Ireland, as well as Australia. The sports betting landscape in Canada is expected to accelerate at a dizzying pace. As such, the company must be equipped to handle the evolution as it continues to scale.
There are lots to look forward to in the American market too. PointsBet has recently launched its patented iGaming platform in America’s most successful iGaming hub, the state of New Jersey. New Jersey is the second state that PointsBet has launched its online casino platform, having first launched in Michigan this May.
As America’s gambling market keeps growing, PointsBet will want to do everything possible to ensure that it keeps introducing innovative products that will allow it to become a top choice for punters in New Jersey. Already, its fixed odds sportsbook as well as its unique PointsBetting platform is something that will excite punters looking for something different to add to their gambling repertoire.
Final Thoughts
PointsBet has also been operating in the US gambling market for years now. PointsBet first debuted its sports betting product in the Garden State in January 2019 and has consistently kept growing since then. Unlike most other operators in New Jersey, PointsBet does not rely on any 3rd party networks. Instead, PointsBet truly owns its system, which allows it to avoid any 3rd party related technical or risk management reliance.
